Welcome to my new blog about sustainable living, wildlife, and eco-travel

Hi readers!  If you’ve been reading Veggie Revolution blog, this new blog will be more of the same, but expanded.  I started this new blog on WordPress because I want to have multiple pages, which is possible with WordPress but not Blogger.   I’ll still be posting on http://veggierevolution.blogspot.com until at least mid-July, while this blog is under construction.

Eco-travel
The new pages on this blog will give readers more information about eco-travel in Peru and Africa, including posts about the impact of global climate change on communities in Latin America and Africa.  You’ll find info on how you, as a traveler, can support (and visit!) communities that are trying to transition to sustainable livelihoods, to protect their remaining natural resources.

Green Living
Like our last two books and our Veggie Revolution blog, this new blog will offer readers more tips  about green living.  You’ll find information here about sustainable choices for housing, heating and cooling your home, transportation,  diet, clothing, and more.

Eating Vegan
As always, I’ll be reporting new studies about how the livestock industry impacts our environment, as well as recipes and health information for going meatless and dairy-free.

Bug Books for Kids,  Science Methods for Teachers
This blog will have pages about my books for science teachers too, and my childrens’ books about bugs and other little critters.  For now, you can see most of those books by looking under Sally Kneidel on amazon.com.

Wildlife and Animal Behavior
I find myself writing a lot about animal behavior on our Veggie Revolution blog,  because it fascinates me, and because I want to share with others what we as a species still have to learn from wild creatures. My passion for wildlife drives everything I do, the books and the blogging and the speaking. I want to protect wildlife habitat in a world that has more and more people doing more and more damage to the planet. That’s my reason for writing about even diet – livestock are the 2nd or 3rd biggest contributor to all the world’s environmental problems, including climate change (so says the United Nations. Google “Livestock’s Long Shadow”.)

My nephew, the environmental engineer, said to me once about his work in stream restoration: “I do it for the fish. Not for people.” Same here. I’m into it for the wildlife. So you’ll see more posts about the funny and crafty things birds and monkeys do.

More to come….in mid-July.  Until then, read our posts at http://veggierevolution.blogspot.com.

What’s this blog about?

These days, I blog mostly about nature and wildlife. Even the tiniest creatures make me happy! You'll also find here lots of posts about plant-based foods, health, and ecotourism. Ecotourism can support local people who make a living through sustainable use of wildlife, habitat, and natural resources.

Link to our other blog, Veggie Revolution

Our other blog, Veggie Revolution, focuses more on food than this one does, especially the environmental, health and humane aspects of our food choices. That blog was started in 2005 and continues today, while the blog you're reading now began in 2009. Some of the newer posts are on both blogs, but Veggie Rev has at least 260 more posts than this blog, including Sadie's travels to Morocco. In the sidebar of Veggie Rev, you'll see links to each year that can take you back to all the posts for a particular year.
